TERESA MORELL MOLL
(Lower East Side, New York, 1962)

Daughter and granddaughter of Spaniards, who left their homes in the Valencian county – La Marina Alta – to fulfill their dreams in New York. She has a PhD in Applied Linguistics and is an Associate Professor at the University of Alicante, Spain.

Her teaching career began in New York, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Queens College, City University of New York. When she immigrated back to the home of her ancestors, she continued teaching in Orba (Alicante, Spain), the town of la Marina Alta that started the Valencian migration phenomenon. She obtained a second degree in English and started working as a professor at the University of Alicante (UA). Soon after she acquired her doctorate, she was the academic coordinator of la Seu Universitària de la Marina Alta (2005-2012). She currently teaches in the UA English Studies Department and the Masters of Spanish and English as Second and Foreign Languages. She is the author of several books, chapters and articles on oral academic discourse, such as ¿Cómo podemos fomentar la participación en nuestras clases universitarias?
